Our first addition to the project was the Hollywood bars. Extended brake pipes, fork tubes, shocks and a set of appropriate supermoto tyres soon had the bike take shape. Supermoto footpegs, hand guards and foam handlebar cushion were then added. We found that the seat from a Forty-Eight fitted the look we desired and a headlight grille completed the cosmetics.<\/p>\n<p>We took inspiration from Harley-Davidson\u2019s approach to finding new, younger markets and saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the range with our redesigned Iron. Looking at our competitors and what was on offer, we came to the conclusion that a supermoto\/grass tracker-style Harley-Davidson was an area of the market to enthuse the younger audience.<\/p>\n<h3>SPECIFICATION:<\/h3>\n<p>Genuine P&amp;A: Headlight Grill black, 5 \u00bein Daymaker LED headlamp , XL Derby and Timer covers, Hollywood handlebars. Additional components: bellypan and fairing, Vance &amp; Hines Hi-Output Grenade mufflers, sissy bar, sideplates, Baja tyre, Fox 99gm footpegs, brush guards, seat assembly, side mount saddle bag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI first got into bikes at the age of 12 because my father rode bikes,\u201d says Darren McEvoy, Tech at Waterford Harley-Davidson\u00ae. \u201cThe first-time feeling of freedom and the adrenaline rush that comes from riding a motorcycle never leaves.\u201d Harley-Davidson motorcycles have since come into Darrens life and are now a passion that will also stay in place. \u201cHarleys are special to me because they have character to them unlike any other bike and this to me is unrivalled in the bike industry.\u201d Extending character by way of personalisation is something Darren knows all too well from having spent many years customising. This is something else that will never fade because, as he says, the challenge is to make a truly unique motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>To emulate and add to last year\u2019s scrambler-esque design, which was hugely popular for Waterford and sold before the build was completed, was a challenge in itself. But then the design process and trying to agree on exactly which direction to take the build was apparently even more difficult.
